1. Create a 2 pixel by 2 pixel document. Take the pencil tool at 1 point and color in a diagonal. Select All, Go to Edit > Define Pattern. View video of step 1 & 2

2. Create a 800x600 pixel document. Create a new layer. Take the paint bucket tool on pattern paint and fill the entire layer with this new pattern. Lower opacity 17%. Lock the layer.

3. Make a new layer. Take rectangular marquee tool and select the entire length from pixel column 50 to 750. Paint it white.

4. Make # 71a500 (a yellowish green) the foreground color. Take the single column selection marquee and make selects on column pixel row 50 and 750 and paint it this green. Skip another column inside and make a 4 pixel wide column and paint it the green.

5. New layer. From now on we will only deal with the white space. 20 pixels up from the bottom create a single row painted the green.

6. New layer. Now take the single row selection and make a selection at about 250 pixels. Go to the brush panel and select a round brush of about 20 pixel diameter. Make the brush 100% hardness at spacing 200%. Also make sure the brush is the green color we are using. Brush the entire selection.

 

 

7. Duplicate the layer. Go to Edit> Transform > Rotate Clockwise. Set this dotted in at about 150 pixels. Use the marquee tools to make this line constrain with the lines made above by selecting and deleting.

8. Take the horizontal dotted line and make a duplicate and place it at about 75 pixels.

 

9. Put in between the dotted lines some art or a product. Leaves some space to the right for news.

 

10. In the right side of this area create a news section. I used Myriad font for everything.

11. In the small margin on the left, include the navigation controls.

 

12. In the space above the art/ product and news add a logo. And make a bottom statement below that first horizontal line we created.

13. Content: You want to divide each article of information by a dotted line. Just make a duplicate of the ones made before and space it evenly and crop the line to fit the need.

14. Alternate each article of information with a grey box at color #e5e5e5.

 

15. Add pictures for the content. Apply these filters to the images.

 

16. Add-ons: Now if the site was big enough you can build a search built right in. It flows with the design. In the upper right hand corner, take rectangular marquee too and make box to house text and the search field.
